Float like a butterfly, Sting like King B

Australian Rapper King-B has recently caught our attention with his recent track with Twitch MLB titled "Introduction". This Aussie has seamless flow in his tracks as his vocals don't give an inch to emotional tone changes. Because of this it his tracks sounds stripped, fresh and unscripted , His lyrics come from all angles and show some deep creative talent.  There's a maturity about his delivery. He has just released "No Grams" to streaming services in the last few days with punchy explicit lyrics on an unusual special effect backdrop.

King-B is a unique rapper from Victoria, Australia that is highly dedicated to make this game bigger than it already is... he wants to help the struggling succeed and he wants to see people reach they’re top potential... King-B has always been a huge enthusiast of Hip Hop and has always rapper but only started recording in 2017 and dropped his first song in 2018, he’s definitely aiming to make some changes within the rap game and he’s definitely aiming to show all those who support his movement, that his movement will stay moving!

He told Globelink “A vision without execution is a hallucination” so therefore “actions speak louder than words”

I would like to see King-b look at some hard-hitting melodic backing tracks (Still Dre), my favourite track so far was "Introduction" which is most like this. King B has huge creative potential and i do think this kind of backing track will best compliment his vocal style. For now here is the link to "Introduction". King-B's Got Barz x Twitxh MLB - "Introduction" by King-B's Got Barz (soundcloud.com)

A happy ending in a new beginning

Nashville based artist Lexi Gail has released her idyllic pop solo debut single 'Happy Endings'.  This is a very professional faultless introduction to Lexi's solo music. After a delicate piano intro, Lexi's rich vocals spring in. The soulful vocals are gradually added to with orchestral and classic sounds, which serve to bring out the effortless pitched voice. With positive lyrics, the verses show frequent unpredictable fluctuations in tone which give them something of a less conventional feel and adds a unique touch. The song is accompanied by a pleasing video which flicks from deserted beach shots to agile floor dancing moves to create an effective visual. The song is well written and it's clear every detail has been thought through in creation.

Expressing her thoughts about the song, Lexi told Globelink 'I’ve written hundreds of songs in my life but this song felt like that moment where everything I’d ever aimed for as a writer just clicked into place. I was twenty years old and in love for the first time, discovering my identity, and learning about life independently from the environment I grew up in. But instead of just sitting in my catalogue, this song kept growing alongside me. The circumstances that inspired it didn’t define it and that’s when I knew that 'Happy Endings' was the first song I had to release. It became a picture of love no matter the kind and, most importantly, a picture of my faith in God. 'Happy Endings' has been a big part of me cementing my foundation as not only an artist, but as a human being and the kind of person I want to be.'

Lexi has had a love for music from an early age and has had an unwavering passion to become a singer songwriter from some of her earliest memories. Her Grandmother and Father look to have passed on their stage presence on to Lexi who has been asked to perform the national anthem at several well attended monster Jam events. Big voices such as P!nk, Carrie Underwood, Adele, Whitney Houston, Amy Lee, Sara Bareilles, and Kelly Clarkson have influenced Lexi's sound. Lexi moved to Nashville to attend Lipscomb University in 2016, having been awarded talent and academic scholarships. It was shortly after this that she began writing and recording original music with critically acclaimed producer Bobby Terry.

Her strong belief in the Christian faith has led Lexi to many uncomfortable places as a writer- to topics of addiction, toxic relationship cycles, mental health, and the messy truths of the human condition. And in the same breath, she also elaborates on the joyful moments of existing and the simple beauty of creation.

In set up, Lexi has an organised comprehensive structure which include a strong social media presence and her own website Lexigail.com where among other features, you can follow Lexi's journey and key thoughts about some of the subjects listed above.

Its clear Lexi has embarked on this new chapter with some solid foundations and while there is stiff competition to make the highest commercial level in this genre, with her passion and creative eye for detail, you couldn't bet against Lexi making a significant impact at some point. What is evident is that Lexi's followers will be enjoying hearing her music for years to come as Lexi will not losing her passion to create special songs. Neon Fields light the touch paper in standout debut release

'Light them up' is the standout debut from South West UK band Neon Fields. It is 6 minutes 40 seconds in length but unlike some Netflix series, at no point does this seem overstretched or lack periods of quality. It feels like the band take us on an epic journey from start to finish. It doesn't follow the scripted patterned format that you see in many songs and it holds intensity throughout, evoking anticipation in the masses.

The intro beat reminds me of a soundtrack of an intimidating enemy advancing their forces. It strikes a threatening tone before the melodic vocals start to open up against the menacing backdrop. Most of the song has a grand feel that it is building up to something monumental. I really enjoyed the special effects after 5 Minutes 30 which lead into a herculean finale where the kitchen sink gets thrown at this thing. This is a well crafted and creative debut performed on point and is sure to win an immediate following.

The song centres around a paranoid schizophrenic who is convinced that he is being watched and hunted. Aware of his madness and yet believing the voices invading his thoughts, he feels the only solution to find peace is to detonate explosives as 'they' close in on his location, blowing himself up and taking the 'hunters' with him. The track is accompanied by an exciting music video, which showcases the bands on stage performance.

South West UK based trio Neon Fields combine industrial rock with atmospheric synth and dark melancholic vocals to create their brand of Indie Electronic Rock. Formed in 2020 by Ed Barrett (lead vocals), Luke Russe (drums), and Piers Ward (keyboards/guitar), they have now released ‘Light Them Up’, the first single from their upcoming EP which will launch mid 2021. Speaking about how lockdown has had its mixed affects Ed told us 'The past year has been so hard for so many people and certainly something we all want to see the back of but the weird thing is, I absolutely believe that if lockdown hadn’t happened we would currently be creating music that I’m not as passionate about.'

In 2018, after a ten year hiatus from writing, Ed began to pick up where he left off and begin writing music again. He recalls 'I was using GarageBand on my iPhone to create industrial electronic rock tracks that I would then put vocals over, I was really enjoying writing heavy, bassy synth tracks with dark vocals over the top, and I created 6 or 7 tracks which were considered to be ‘drafts’ but decided to release them onto soundcloud in mid 2019. Now that I had tracks released to give direction to the type of music I wanted to create, It was time to move things forward and get other people involved to form a band'.

Ed began to trial a few band formations and initially failed to find the exact fit for what he was looking for but soon struck gold when he found Piers on a music website with the two hitting it off instantly. Shortly after, they were pointed in the direction of Luke who became the drummer for the band. The band started out being named 'Cage of Lions' who wrote and performed conventional rock music but Ed was eager to maintain an electric synth element that he is so passionate about. Originally it was decided that they wanted a synth player as part of the band but after failing to find the right match they went on to recruit a bass player instead but he parted ways with the band at a later date due to different preferences of musical styles and the bass not fitting in with the sound they wanted to produce. The band went on to rename themselves 'Neon Fields'. Ed told Globelink Music that he credits lockdown as allowing them to focus on the sound they wanted to produce with him being able to concentrate on the writing and the vocal aspect. Piers was able to use the time to advance his synth and electronic production skills, which were originally earmarked for his previous project named 'Nine Borders' and Luke was able to use an electronic drum kit to refine his percussion technique to suit the style of the band. Ed acclaims Pier's immense talents to being able to produce a more sophisticated and impressive sound. He also states that the awesome drum work from Luke helped to enhance and elevate the tracks to a new level. Due to the electronic nature of the music they were producing the band found it easy to collaborate remotely and cement the style that they were keen to achieve. Speaking about the process Ed says 'Lockdown and remote collaboration forced us to change the way we were writing together and as a result our sound became more aligned with the style we had all been wanting to create in the first place. I found that evolution so exciting and no longer felt like our music was a compromise of what I’d set to do.'

Song Recommendation- Ruthcrest- If You Were Here

Los Angeles based band Aaron Garcia, Charlie Carrillo and Adam Garcia are the creators behind the high energetic alternative rock inspired sound known as Ruthcrest. Driven by edgy guitar riffs, catchy choruses and unfeigned lyrics, they bring you relatable tunes that combine the ups and downs of life. They have a increasing following on streaming platforms and a strong social media presence across various sites including their own website Home | Ruthcrest .

Their latest song 'If you were here' is a pop punk song with a bit of everything and shows the trio are not afraid to experiment. Starting with something that sounds more like what you would expect the opening of a Red hot chilli peppers song to be, but then exploding into something of a more familiar pop punk sound. The melody and tempo change several times throughout the song. There are some amazing guitar riffs which include a effective section of higher pitched chords. It's an established sound where the vocals are on point and the catch lines are well capable of sticking in your head for the rest of the day.

'Say it again' and 'By your side' are two other recent songs by Ruthcrest and both are well worth a listen. But for now here is the link to 'If you were here'- If You Were Here · Ruthcrest (spotify.com)

A song that leaves you wanting more Wine

Five piece band 'Regen' have released their first song to streaming services a few days ago and have hit the mark with the debut named 'Wine'. With echoed haunting vocals and a reflective tone, Regen have produced something quite special here. It is the kind of music you might associate with a long late night drive on an empty highway.  There's deep emotional resignation in the lyrics which include  'I’ve got the place to myself, I bought you this dress, I won’t wear it unless you’re there, your there'. The song is very well written and produced with a great video. With a combination of acoustic and electric guitars, there's the slightest hint of a retro influence but mixed with something unique, cool and effortlessly understated.

Regen are a Slovenian band from Ljubljana and have only been playing and recording music together since September of 2019. With opportunities for live gigs limited due to the pandemic they have been busy writing songs targeting an album release in the first quarter of 2022. The plan includes releasing two more singles by summer and possibly another couple by the end of the year. I think we can probably expect more contemplative melancholic sounds from these guys but for now here's the link to 'Wine'- Regen - Wine (official video) - YouTube

Chesney Claire putting the 'Hours' in

Chesney Claire is a 19 year old R&B/Neo Soul singer-songwriter from Southwest Louisiana but she currently resides in the 'Sin City' which is Las Vegas. Her recent release 'Hours' was a stand out song in our review material this week. After starting out singing covers and lending her vocals to original projects, Chesney successfully released her first original song '15 Candles' last June, assisted by producer Tim Coons. She made her mark and created an incredible impact with her relatable and powerful lyrics. Her follow up piece 'Moving on' was released in December and radiated a calmer vibe. It successfully rounded off an impressive year that earned Chesney a nomination for the best upcoming artist at the Las Vegas Music Awards amongst other enviable recognition.

February 2021 has seen the release of her next single 'Hours' which is chic, unique and shows a flourishing maturity in her sound. It makes a statement about the direction of her music and definitely leaves us with the vibes of some of the earlier Alicia Keys work. All of her hard work and talent has not gone unrecognised with her fan base continuously widening, which now includes in excess of 7500 monthly Spotify listeners. The growth in her following is steadily being fuelled by coverage on play lists and radio play.

Driven and inspired by her mum, who she affectionately nicknames her 'Momager', Chesney has set out an organised plan for success which includes her own website (Chesneyclaire.com), band musicians and a thorough, strong social media and streaming platform presence. Chesney cannot speak highly enough of her band stating 'I have big shoes to fill being on the same stage with these musicians but the more we rehearse, the more we gel and the sound that comes from our joint efforts is AMAZING!'. There is also a solid focus on establishing and developing some impressive industry connections. Speaking about her mum and manager, Chesney told Globelink 'she is the reason my career is going as well as it is right now. That woman is not afraid of anyone or anything.' She added 'sometimes she makes ways for me when i think it's impossible.'

What is clear is that Chesney has an abundance of determination, drive and talent. She is ultra-focused in her first big goal which is to get signed by a major record label.  Her achievements so far serve as a great foundation in which to build on, especially at such a young age. If you combine her extraordinary work ethic, incredible musical abilities and the blessing of a manager who believes in her, no one in their right mind would bet against this upcoming artist achieving her goals. Here is a link to her latest single 'Hours'- Chesney Claire- Hours.

New song recommendation - Fusia - Wallflower

The new Danish indie pop trio Fusia have released their new single 'Wallflower'. There is an unassuming melody that flows effortlessly with a retro touch here. The song is about being in love with the thought of being in love. This is an accomplished tune and one you would associate with a band who have been together for years and are totally comfortable with their own sound. There is a real mark of promising quality about Fusia.

New Song Recommendation - Bachelor Party / Not your type

Bachelor Party are an electric pop based duo out of sunny San Antonio, Texas. With multi-instrumentalist Cooper (Vocals, Guitar) and Ruben (Drums), both have over twelve years experience in the music business. Their debut release was 'leavemealone' which included a nice unique chorus, set off by well thought out drum beats. However, the new song 'Not your type' is a step up and invites you in from the very first seconds with a cheeky electric intro. This sets the tone for an upbeat and catchy sound that keeps the attention throughout. The song is very well written and seamlessly executed. The video is a perfect example of what you can produce without a massive budget and perfectly fits the song. I think we can expect more catchy electric songs combined with the trademark pained lyrics and poppy choruses from the duo. 'Not your type' is available on streaming platforms now and is included in our top five new singles of the week. Please find the link here: (1) Bachelor Party - Not Your Type (Official Music Video) - YouTube

Breaking Ground with No Bricks for Welsh Rapper

"No Bricks" is the latest offering from Cardiff based rapper Benny Flowz and has seen well over 2000 views in its first 48 hours. Benny has been releasing his music for months rather than years but has already made a big impression. His lyrics are seamless and take naturally sounding routes that other rappers don't see. I cant think of many rappers that have originated from the country more associated with the hills and valleys rather than the gritty urban life Benny portraits ,which I'm sure resonates  more like real life for many in that area. We review thousands of rap videos every week. Most don't make it past 40 seconds. Benny gives you something fresh. The trademark aggression is there but the messages differ from 99.9% of those putting rap music out. This is no more apparent than in his latest track "No Bricks" which is Benny's best work yet and deserved of the increased viewings its received as interest gathers for his work. Here is the link to Benny's new single "No Bricks":  (1) Benny Flowz - YouTube

Del Mar release high energy EP of quality

Sunny South Florida 4 Piece punk/rock band Del Mar have brought out a debut Ep with previously unheard songs '20/20' and 'Closure'. Both songs have trademark  high energy, insane drum rolls and general feel good vibes about them. Del Mar have been playing with each other for a lot longer than their debut single date suggests. The debut single "You wont bring me down" came out in late 2020 and has been remastered as a third song on the E.P. The Del Mar sound radiates fun so much that its easy to get lost in the sound and forget that the lyrics explore some frustrating emotional situations. Our view is this is just a great debut EP and will no doubt grow the bands following. Making music together for a while before releasing music ensures some solid foundations and its clear these guys enjoy working with each other and love what they do. Definitely a band to watch. Please find link to the new ep https://open.spotify.com/artist/1UdeK3NIAOcgfwiTZ9e8uy?si=E4Bx2HykR3yXIS57v_CTAA

Keeley - The Glitter and the Glue

Rising Dublin four-piece Keeley release a new double A-side single on Friday February 12th 2021. The two songs – 'The Glitter and the Glue' and 'You Never Made It That Far' were produced by Alan Maguire during sessions for the debut Keeley long-player that is scheduled for release in 2022. In honour of a largely lost art, namely the time-honoured classic double A-side single, the release comprises two A-sides of arguably equal quality – a value-for-money gesture and a measure of this artist’s determination to pursue and promote Indie values.'The Glitter and the Glue' is the shortest, fastest and most ecstatic explosion of energy released by Keeley to date – a hook-laden, metallic, melodic monster of a song with a very unusual lyrical content. It is already receiving airplay from Newstalk FM, 98FM, 8Radio and has now been added to the playlists of Dublin City FM and KCLR 96FM. 'You Never Made It That Far' is something else entirely – a spacey, darkly-dreamy electronic elegy drenched in drama and soaked in sadness. RTE Radio 1's Late Date have chosen to air this track.
