A debut to please from Tereaz

Rapper Tereaz explores the dangerous world of 'Drunk Voicemails' in his well executed debut. Described as a track where he captures himself in a drunken and vulnerable state expressing himself to a past lover on their voicemail, Tereaz demonstrates a flow to his rhymes that suggests he is a talented hidden gem. This track takes a softer tone to many rap songs with a piano backing and hazy lyrics but its unique, effective and Its professionally produced. For an artist with a following still in its infancy, i'm sure it can potentially attract interest far beyond what it may initially do. This needs a big push because the quality is there. Inspired by Rihanna's 'Higher' ,Tereaz drafted 47 voicemails before culling 44 of them to leave the three remaining verses.

Tereaz is originally from Virginia Beach. At 12 years old while going through depression, Tereaz turned to writing music to feel he had someone to talk to. He explains 'Ever since music has been my therapist and now it's my turn to give back to a world that has kept me from taking my own life.' He added 'now I get to be that vessel to bleed that healing back into the world to those who needs it. I wrestle many things in my music from love, break ups, mental illnesses and several other relatable topics to help those who need it feel like they're not in this wild journey in life alone.'

Tereaz who is now 30 has scrapped over 340 songs and has suffered from insecurities, loss of friendship and love. The great news is that Tereaz does now have a war chest of his favourite writing exploits and has another 15 releasable offerings that dive deep and explore his journey of ups and downs. RinRin is a hard hitting truth seeker

'Seek the truth' is the powerful new song from Perth singer, songwriter and guitarist RinRin. In this, RinRin pits her versatile pitched vocals against a backdrop of metal resulting in a truly unique sound. The raised melodic chorus is quite striking and memorable. The song has backed by death growl vocals to create an amazing 'beauty and the beast effect'. The whole set up is a very cool, fresh concept and is sure to win a good cross following of admirers. This ticks a lot of boxes as a benchmark for a relatively new artist and I can see this music breaking barriers and attracting universal interest.

RinRin has grown to learn the guitar from the age of 10 and later joined her dad’s cover band in 2015. Her passion to write and create music using garage band led her to forming an experimental band in the late 2018 until she moved to be featured in the release of a single of Perth emo band Love Me NataLie in the middle of 2019. With the Covid19 pandemic starting to put live gigs on hold, she started writing songs in isolation and later decided to release her debut single 'The Game' as a solo artist in July 2020. This was followed by the release of a music video which garnered attention from listeners in and out of the country and received music reviews from online blogsites and magazines in the US, UK, Japan and Australia. In the first 6 months of its release, her top Spotify listeners were from the US and the UK which reached 10,000 monthly listeners.

RinRin credits inspiration from Sheffield band 'Bring me the Horizon' for stepping out as a solo artist. An EP is soon to be released and is expected to showcase the RinRin musical genre dubbed as 'Fresh, Loud & Sweet'. On the release of her maiden EP, the band members will also be introduced and are set to make waves in the live music scene both local and on the road.  Here is the link to RinRin "Seek the truth" RinRin - Seek The Truth [Official Music Video] - YouTube

Clear Messenger Lines

Free-spirited German Indie band 'Dote' bring out the fun in their new video for the song 'Messenger Lines'. The indie pop tune reveals more of the band's light hearted side. 'Messenger Lines' starts with an electro-synth intro and progresses into a flirty danceable rhythm. The chorus is ultra catchy and is flanked by sweet sounds and playful rhymes. It is a slightly milder melody than some of their other songs and it has been put together and produced nicely. The song has an air of the highly successful band 'The 1975' about it.

The band includes Jonah, Moritz, Niclas and Lukas who all first met each other in the school choir. They started releasing music in 2017 approaching subjects like girls and the ever popular fears of impending adulthood.  Since then they have won insiders recommendations for their indie dance-along songs with eclectic modern guitar riffs, vocals, tender vibes and 80s synth strains. They have a highly recognisable trademark sound.

'Messenger Lines' is the latest song released as the single from their new ep 'broken heart economy class' which also came out on Friday the 26th of March. Here is the Link DOTE - Messenger Lines (Official Video) - YouTube

Faux Rain targeting a flood

'Don't Mind Me' is the third single from Australian progressive rock outfit Faux Rain. Parts of the song, including the start, sound like it could be a musical build up for an Armageddon.  There's almost a psychedelic element to the song. It's a 3 minute 43 seconds bombardment on all the senses. We love the electric guitar sounds in this. There's a hard hitting breakout section in the song and the whole creation is on point. In regards to the imposing video, this is a great fit considering the song has something of a grand feel about it.

Speaking about the song the band told us 'It's a song about relationships and the fact that things don't always work out - and sometimes they do. There's ups, there's downs, and we have to live with the consequences. In the same vein, the video clip illustrates this with the guy looking for the girl in the dark city, only to find that she's left. The sequence of the city collapsing in on itself is a visual metaphor for the guys' world being flipped upside down.'

Faux Rain arrived on the scene in 2020 with singles 'Stay' and 'The Feeling.' They are an independent, self-produced and a 100% DIY endeavour. From ambient post-rock textures and electronic nuances, to hard-hitting sections inspired by the metal realm, Faux Rain produces a sound that is experimental and grounded in contrast. Speaking about their creative viewpoint they told us 'with each new song, we try to take a different approach. We're not big on re-producing the same song each time, so you can expect some quite varied sounds from us in the future.'

Expect more exciting releases from 'Faux Rain' including 'The other you' which again shows the versatility of sound and a willingness to experiment. But for now here is 'Don't mind me'- Faux Rain - Don't Mind Me (Official Music Video) - YouTube

Surviving December here to Stay

Surviving December have released their inviting new punk rock song "Stay". The band originates from the small fishing Devon coastal town of Brixham. If a punk rock song could say "I want to be your friend" this is it. With a melodic intro and a catchy chorus, this song has an affectionate tone to it. Take the music away and the vocals on it sound more indie familiar but this only seems to compliment the amazing sounds to create the different. Sometimes the sound can be lost with so much going on but not on this as its clear, on point and there's no compromise here. This is in our top five new songs of the week.

Speaking about the song the band told us "The song Stay is part of a larger story which makes up our album. The song has roots from about 16 years ago when we were last a band. But now brought back to life, this song really helps our album". From the quiet fishing village surroundings, three became four and Surviving December went from a humble three-man jam to a four-man gigging punk rock band after a few months of writing and perfecting tracks.

333 flatter to 'deceivers'

'The Deceivers' is the thought provoking debut release from the 333 Music Project. It was written to ponder the thoughts of  what the media portrays in todays crazy world. The media and the perception we have of the media is high on the public's agenda right now which makes this particular music relevant, edgy and thought provoking. Bringing this concept into reality, a great example of the idea of the power of media is the coverage surrounding the now world famous Oprah interview and how the media are portraying it and the effect that it is having on public perception. It really is something we just can't get away from.

In the first week of release the song was viewed over 800 times on Youtube which represents a promising foundation and building block for the new project. The song is well written and produced with a subject appropriate video. It is full of Canadian promise from the trio of writers Tim Blunt, Tanya Goodine and Adam Wakely, all hailing from Vancouver, Canada.

Speaking to Globelink Music, the band describes their music goals as 'Generating thought-provoking songs in today's world of change. Blending Vintage sounds, that are Seasoned into a Modern Vibe'. They appear to be thinking smarter and bolder and are seemingly well prepared for their evolvement as a project. They have an organised profile of socials and streaming platforms which is essential for success and appealing to all demographics. It is early days for the project and I will certainly be interested to see how the follow ups go. I am especially interested in how the project propose to retain the modern edge element to any future releases which in my view is key. For now here is 'The Deceivers' which we rated highly in our music reviews this week- 333 Music Project- The Deceivers

German solo project with a Pale Vision

'Walk like a badass' is the recent release from Stuttgart based solo project Pale Vision.  This is an ultra catchy upbeat song. It has a unique sound but also a hint of retro about it. It has the cheeky 'cool for cats' vibe with full flowing, story telling lyrics that are usually associated with successful artist's including Madness and The Streets.  Back then 'Cool for cats' was classed as new wave, pub rock.  Pale's voice gives it its own unique brand alongside the song lyrics and especially the melody just after the chorus will stick in your head. It's difficult to listen to the song without at least having a smile on your face and I don't think with the word 'Badass' included in the title that Pale Vision intended you to take the song in any other way. I haven't heard the word Badass for a while but this has given me the appetite to revisit my 'The Simpsons' box set.

Pale writes, produces and records every song himself and has been playing in bands from being 15 years old. Speaking about the changes in the German music scene, Pale told Globelink Music 'so in Germany everything you hear in the radio is pop or rap. And it's basically always the same. Rock is dead and little bands don't get enough support. I want to change that by bringing Rock and Indie music back to the people!'. There's no doubting the talent of the multi-instrumentalist. His previous song 'Life is a game' is also well worth a listen.  Here is the link to the song: Walk Like A Badass · Pale Vision (spotify.com)

There's 'Beauty and the Beat'

'Let go' and 'Sugar Kid' are the two amazing debut songs from Beauty and the beat. Beauty and The beat is a duo project that aims to promote consciousness and mental well being. Christin Figueira and JazzP connected to create a joint project that is accessible and entertaining, yet healing to their audience and brought to life by their mutual passion for music. Engaging in topics such as self-actualization, worth and reflection is essential to open a space that makes the conversation around mental health possible and thereby  de-stigmatizes and qualifies therapy as a positive tool. The listener is taken on a musical journey of vulnerability and transparency that is aiming to be inspirational and motivational.

For debut songs both 'Let go' and 'Sugar Kid' hit the right note. The soulful vocals are outstanding complimented by on point beats. The male rap sections in 'Let go' flows seamlessly . The songs are professionally produced. Sometimes meaningful projects can compromise in style, but this has an abundance of it. They have now just added 'Not me' which has a catchy chorus and a singing interlude later in the song where they are touching on some of the issues in a vocal stand-off before the chorus kicks back in. Mental well being has never sounded this cool.  I wouldn't usually put artist socials on a review but this sounds like such a great thing to follow and learn more about. New Song - Recommendation - Murray / Destiny

'Destiny' is the new song collaboration between husband and wife duo Murray. The offering is an upbeat, catchy pop song that was written by Dermot for his wife after finding out that they may have crossed paths a few times before finding one another. The song is well written and professionally produced, assisted by Carl Allen of Amp Music. Dermot only started learning guitar three years ago so to be writing and producing accomplished music like this is a massive achievement. The songs vocal intro almost sounds like it could be the start to an electronic dance track, then the drums kick in after a few seconds. Caroline's vocals are very clear and give a slight hint of a country singer feel about them. The inspiration and motivation around this song makes a refreshing change and Dermot, who is a firefighter by day told Globelink he will be working on a new track once restrictions are eased. Here is a Link to the song: Destiny · Murray (spotify.com)

EP recommended - Not Enough Space - End This Way

Orlando five piece alternative rock band 'Not Enough Space' have recently released their debut EP 'End this Way'  with special features from Kellin Quinn and Devin Barrus. This represents much promise from the band, who have been together for over a year.  The lyrics come from a dark place and for a debut EP, it definitely left me with the impression that they are not afraid to experiment to create unique sounds. Track one 'Drifting' dives straight in with some clever voice distortion and channels an individual who is lost and damaged. 'Cascade' which is  my other favourite track has a less energetic and more of an eerie feel about it at the start, building into something of an epic grand finale that gives the EP some great closure.  There doesn't appear to be a shortage of creative thinking here. Usually a debut offering provides a raw sound which can slightly detract from ones enjoyment. This EP doesn't appear like that and definitely sets a high bar for standards. I'm excited about what the follow ups will sound like as they become more established. Listen to 'End this way' here- End This Way- Not Enough Space.

New song recommendation - MNA - New Normal

Fun loving duo MNA (pronounced Mee-na) have released their debut original single 'New Normal' on the 19th of February. 'New Normal' makes effective use of gradually escalating instrumental sounds from a stripped down beginning to a wholehearted finish. The song is well written and produced. The melody and feel of the song is catchy and serves as a nice introduction for MeMe and AC.

The sisters who are based out of Nashville have been singing together since 2013. The lyrics for 'New Normal' were mostly written by younger sister AC, with both of them creating the melody. The song was written at the peak of quarantine and deals with struggling with your sense of identity during isolation. MeMe told Globelink 'its a song we felt others could relate to during this hard time'. She added 'We strive to create music people resonate with'. Please find the link to the debut single here: https://open.spotify.com/album/4tVaeYtXKIRq0pQi6ZqEwr?si=SVUyvogsRGi1pJ8zYqJkpQ&nd=1

Blame Me! take responsibility for 'Toxic' potion

Helsinki hellraisers Blame Me! have dropped a massive kick to our eardrums in the form of 'Toxic'. This has everything including heavy guitars, crazy drum solos and enough energy to power the whole of Finland. There are some mad effects from the start of the song. The intro makes me feel like this is genuinely the music soundtrack to the end of the world. The female vocals give something brilliantly different and they perfectly compliment the sound explosion. How they have put this all together is nothing short of genius. Personally I can take or leave metal generally but this brain explosion gripped me from the start. Lead Vocalist Bini told Globelink Music 'Toxic is a song about anxiety and how the voices inside one's head are trying to take control. When sanity is just a thin thread those inner demons can destroy it in seconds'.  The debut album is being released during the year 2021 and the previous single 'Fire, Fuel and Scars', which was released in December 2020 was widely featured on Finnish national media outlets. The song ended up featuring on three national radio stations and got played on a daily rotation. The single 'Toxic' is presenting the darker sound of Blame Me! and is bringing forward awareness towards mental health issues.  This is in our top five new singles of the week and probably our favourite. Toxic is available on streaming platforms.  Please find the link:(1) Blame Me! - Toxic (Official Music Video) - YouTube
