Formed in 2015, Standing Like Statues are an anthemic punk pop band from Cambridgeshire in the UK. Statues have supported 'We Are The Ocean' and have supported some other great bands to date as well as being featured on BBC Look East and have the ongoing support of BBC Music introducing Cambridgeshire.
Inspired by the likes of Taking Back Sunday, Thirty Seconds To Mars and Biffy Clyro, Standing Like Statues draw from the greats of alternative rock to combine anthemic energy and creativity with soul-searching lyrics.
They have worked with award-winning producer Romesh Dodangoda on the most recent tracks, which was a great opportunity for the band to take things up a notch with the production.
Writing the new EP has forced the band to dig deep and harness the power to commit themselves to authenticity; rising above the blur of memes, trends, concepts and false personas which dominate modern life. Having learned to laugh in the face of adversity there are no barriers to fight through and lots of love to give.
The band share this – 'These new tracks explore claustrophobic feelings, mixed with an underlying anxiety that eats away, making you question and over-rationalise things. It’s a cry for help, with an answer. They were written following a year long hiatus, due to the impact of mental health, so we wanted to put the feelings of that into this new chapter. It’s so important to us that we are there for the people that connect with our music. We learned the hard way what it’s like to have no one and we don’t want anyone to ever feel that way. If you’re feeling alone, we can be your home.'
The newest offering 'Stupid Love', taken from the Sophomore Ep, has recently been released and has been a hit with BBC Introducing in Cambridgeshire. The video certainly looks to be a step up, with some definite quality about it. The song "Stupid Love" is one that can stay in your head long after listening and we urge you to take a look.
