The latest plans to ease Covid 19 UK restrictions has received a mixed reaction from the live music industry. Prime minister Boris Johnson unveiled his four step roadmap to release England from Lockdown. Live music venues would be included in the last step in the plan, however there is encouragement that from June 21st, all legal limits on social restrictions should be lifted, which would include live music venues. This should allow more clarity on target dates for events been planned throughout the summer. However the timescales until venues are allowed to re-open are a further period of financial concern for those who's livelihood depends on live events. Music trust venue chief executive Mark Davyd is optimistic that the sector could bounce back from the "enormous amount of debt" taken during the global pandemic.
First minister Nicola Sturgeon also revealed cautious easing of lockdown for Scotland but further details are expected to be set out around the middle of march.
